New Britain Man Convicted of Multiple Counts of Violation of a Protective Order

(New Britain, CT) - Christian Watson, New Britain Judicial District State’s Attorney, today announced that Felipe Santiago, age 53, of New Britain, was found guilty by a jury of three counts of Violation of a Protective Order, in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-223(c)(2). The trial, in the Superior Court of New Britain, was presided over by the Honorable Jesse Giddings.

The guilty verdicts were returned by a jury on September 10, 2026. Evidence at trial showed that the defendant violated the protective orders on April 22, 2025 while outside the New Britain Superior Court by harassing and yelling at the victim.

“While the verdict brought accountability, ensuring the victim’s safety throughout the process was equally important,” said Assistant State’s Attorney Lakshmi Swami and Assistant State’s Attorney Alison Kubas, who prosecuted the case. “We want to thank state Judicial Marshal Derek Dimauro, who acted swiftly during the incident to protect the victim. His actions demonstrated courage, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to protecting those entrusted to his care.”

State’s Attorney Watson wishes to extend his gratitude to the New Britain Police Department and Connecticut Judicial Marshals.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 30, 2026 in New Britain Superior Court.
